SOA testing for Microsoft Visual Studio

Parasoft announces the availability of Parasoft SOA-Test 5.5. SOA-Test 5.5 adds new testing capabilities to its comprehensive and collaborative test suite, and is designed specifically to increase productivity and efficiency for development teams working in complex Service Oriented Architectures (SOA), including those working in the Microsoft .NET environment.

SOA-Test 5.5 is a SOA testing solution to offer full capabilities for multi-protocol environments, including Windows Communication Foundation (WCF).

The latest in a series of platform support capabilities, Parasoft SOA-Test 5.5 allows .NET developers to exercise messages in multiple protocols as well as the proprietary Microsoft standards.

Parasoft's new SOA-Test 5.5 integrates with Microsoft Visual Studio Team System for Software Testers, allowing developers to share, manage and execute Parasoft SOAtest projects, receiving results directly into Microsoft Visual Studio.

Hemadri Dasari, principle software quality assurance engineer at AOL said "overall, we've been customers of Parasoft SOAtest for some years and have seen the product evolve to include features and the flexibility to help support AOL's needs."

Dasari added "Parasoft SOA-Test is a critical component to our SOA lifecycle to enforce quality as a process and not a task."

Melinda Ballou, program director for the Application Life-Cycle Management service at IDC said "the development of secure and reliable SOA environments requires test standards that are able to run on a host of different environments and platforms."

Ballou added "visibility into and analysis of unique test environments allows for testing of complex SOA components within the context of the rich ecosystem in which they reside, promoting developer productivity and enabling quality control."

"The Parasoft SOAtest 5.5 release also delivers a highly automated capability to create intelligent stubs. The stubs emulate the behavior of a running system, allowing the development organization to test services in context of an applications' actual behavior and not the live running system. This saves tremendous time and resources," said Ballou.

Rami Jaamour, SOA Solutions Manager of Parasoft said "Microsoft .NET WCF provides a rich set of capabilities based on WS-* standards and certain proprietary bindings."

Jaamour added "Parasoft SOAtest 5.5 enables our customers to test WCF services natively, and in a way that is consistent with the Microsoft platform they have and are familiar with. Furthermore, I have seen many organizations suffer from loss of productivity when multiple teams’ work on integrated systems and wait on each other on making changes in the components that each team owns."

"Our reusable stubs allow for the execution of end-to-end business scenarios without the presence of all the dependent services, and thus allows distributed teams and business partners to collaborate efficiently," said Jaamour.
