Red Hat builds on current technology interoperability effortsAdd to February 15, 2007 Yesterday, Red Hat announced that it has joined the IVA (Interop Vendor Alliance), a Web Services industry-wide organization working to connect people, data and various IT systems through better and smoother interoperability. As a major player in this segment, Red Hat's membership in the alliance builds on the interoperability work started by the JBoss Division in August 2005 to optimize JBoss Enterprise Middleware on the Windows platform. To date, those efforts have been primarily in the Web Services arena, including the critically important World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), WS-Addressing specification and several others around WS-Security, WS-Transactions and WS-Addressing. Additionally, Microsoft completed its Hibernate certification for Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Java Database Connectivity (JDBC) driver. Today, Red Hat can extend and deepen interoperability beyond standards to the native level on Windows for its JBoss Enterprise Middleware. "Overall, enterprise customers count on Red Hat to run their businesses, and they expect nothing less than the ability to leverage Red Hat solutions with their existing technology investments," said Shaun Connolly, v.p. of product management, JBoss, a division of Red Hat. Connolly added "through the alliance, we will work with industry vendors to ensure that the Red Hat customer experience is transparent and seamless in spite of heterogeneous environments." "Participation in the Interop Vendor Alliance is the latest in Red Hat's long history of working with industry leaders and standards associations, including OASIS (Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards), WS-I (Web Services Interoperability) and the Java Community Process (JCP)." said Connolly. He added "through its certification programs, Red Hat also assures its customers of a large ecosystem of partner solutions that are optimized for Red Hat software." Frequent readers of this website will remember that the Interop Vendor Alliance was formed in 2006 to identify and share opportunities to improve and market interoperability solutions of its members.
