JBoss to join three industry organizations
May 9, 2006 JBoss announces today that it has joined three industry organizations focused on establishing standards for Web services:
1) OASIS (Org. for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards) The move will help JBoss ensure that the JBoss Enterprise Middleware Suite (JEMS™), an open source platform for service-oriented architecture (SOA), supports emerging Web services standards. Today, for example, JBoss announced JBoss Portal 2.4 with WSRP (Web Services for Remote) support, while JBoss Transactions has the only Web services Portlets implementation on the market supporting both the WS-CAF (Composite Application Framework) and WS-TX (Transactions) specifications. Mark Little, Ph.D., director of standards for JBoss, will be the company’s primary representative within the organizations. Dr. Little commented: “JBoss is committed to making JEMS the leading open source platform for SOA, and that means adhering to key standards as they emerge. Though JEMS already supports a wide range of standards such as WS-CAF and WS-TX, membership in these organizations ensures that JBoss will have greater visibility and the opportunity to contribute our technical knowledge back into the standards process.” In OASIS, JBoss will be participating on committees for WSRP, WS-CAF, WS-TX, WS-RX (Reliable Exchange), WS-SX (Secure Exchange), WS-BPEL (Business Process Execution Language), SOA Reference Model and SOA Adoption Blueprints. “Mark Little has a long history of working with OASIS, and we’re pleased to have JBoss join the consortium,” said James Bryce Clark, director of standards development at OASIS. “We look forward to having JBoss participate with other industry experts to help define the standards that will make Web services and SOA a reality for many enterprises.” "In W3C, JBoss will be participating in the Web Services Addressing and Web Services Choreography Working Groups. For WS-I, JBoss joins as an advocate to support the organization’s interoperability efforts.
